Burj Al Arab
It is one of the tallest hotels in the world and among the prime places to visit in Dubai.
Established in the year 1999, Burj Al Arab is one of the premium hotels in Dubai. Burj Al Arab stands 280 m on an artificial island off Jumeirah Road and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. It is the 7th tallest hotels in the world, although 39% of its total height is made up of non-occupiable space. The shape of the structure is designed to resemble the sail of a ship. It has a helipad near the roof at a height of 210 m (689 feet) above ground.
Offering the ultimate in luxury, this 7-star hotel is an architectural and engineering marvel and is unmatched by any other building in the world as it’s founded on sand, not on rock. It’s standing tall on 250 concrete columns of 1.5 m in diameter each that goes 45 m (148 feet) under the sea. Talking of luxury, the hotel features an attractive fountain, an admirable lobby, and richness induced 203 suites. The royalty factor of the hotel is brought out by its many interior elements adorned in real gold! In addition to all other state-of-the-art amenities and facilities, the hotel is also home to one of the best spas in Dubai, Assawan Spa. The exterior of the building is lit up by a choreographed, colored lighting show at night.
The Burj Al-Arab is one of the most expensive hotels in the world, with the most luxurious suites costing more than $15,000 for one night. Although the exterior of the hotel is exceptionally impressive, many visitors can’t help but want to see the inside. Unfortunately, the only way to do this is to book one of the very expensive rooms or make a reservation at one of the equally expensive bars and restaurants. Al Mahara (‘Oyster’) is an underwater restaurant, where floor-to-ceiling glass panels in the dining room walls allow you to view sea life while you eat at California-style fusion restaurant Scape. For the ultimate panoramic views over the city, book afternoon tea at the Skyview Bar (a minimum spend is required) on the 27th floor. A prior reservation (on its website) is required to get past the lobby security to visit its restaurant if you are not staying there. No Entry without reservations at restaurants or for high tea.
